Let's Enjoy "Lucifer" (Season Four)!

Warning: spoilers abound!

This was such a huge improvement compared to the last season! Or maybe season three was so bad, even this ridiculousness seemed stellar. Because the plot was ridiculous… and kind of came out of nowhere. I have the feeling this is going to be a short review.

So, just to get the premise out of the way, after Chloe saw Lucifer’s true face, she takes a month long trip to Europe. The season starts with her returning to work and acting like nothing’s wrong even though she’s clearly bothered blah blah blah. Anyway, we find out she (sort of) partnered up with a priest that wants to send Lucifer back to Hell in order to prevent a prophecy. This prophecy is the thing that comes out of nowhere - like, it’s seriously only there to drive the plot and… honestly, could’ve easily been cut out.

Eve, as in Adam and Eve, escapes heaven to spend time with Lucifer on earth and is a bad influence on him. There’s a whole subplot where a human side character is pregnant with an angel baby, an episode where Lucifer can’t control himself turning into a full devil, complete with demonic wings, and demons rising from hell to kidnap the half-angel baby in order to make him the new king of hell.

I swear it’s way more engaging than I’m making it sound. I was super invested in everything going on and I loved Eve. She was a lot of fun. Though the whole will they/won’t they thing between Chloe and Lucifer is getting old - just date already! Also, kind of wish the demon thing lasted longer than one episode. …Maybe I didn’t like this season as much as I thought.

Anyway, the season ends with Lucifer, angel wings back to normal, returning to hell to prevent more demon uprisings. Complete with a heart-wrenching, tender goodbye to Chloe 😍

The end felt more like a series finale than a season finale, but there’s still a season (well, half a season) available. (I’ve watched it already - it’s pretty great, but I’ll save that for next time).

7/10
